Society has a tendency to tell you that material things and achievements are the key to happiness. The problem with this mindset is that your happiness becomes conditional; once you have what you want something else will come along and that will then be the key to happiness.
Choosing where to direct your focus is a way to influence your happiness. Actively focusing on the positives of your life - looking at what you do have rather than what you don’t- is a choice to be grateful and happier.
Writing something you can see, a relationship you value, and an opportunity you’re thankful for each day is a gratitude exercise and a tool for coping with distress.
